The Company

Aletheia is the classical Greek word for “truth and disclosure,” of bringing facts into the open. Aletheia is an independent, registered investment advisor dedicated to uncovering investment truth.

Aletheia was founded in 1997 by Peter J. Eichler, Jr. with the fundamental belief that independence, passion and a tireless work ethic that drives to the truth about businesses are the only ways to succeed at investing and to create value for one’s clients. Since 1997, the firm has developed and nurtured an investment philosophy and process that is built upon independent thought and analysis and grounded in empirical fact.

Mr. Eichler’s experience and expertise in investing as well as his deep family roots in the industry served as an important foundation when he started Aletheia with just $15 million in assets under management. Mr. Eichler is the grandson of Rudolph J. Eichler, who co-founded Bateman Eichler & Co. in 1932, which would later become Bateman Eichler, Hill Richards. He is also the grandson of Henri de La Chapelle, one of the original partners of Paine Webber Jackson & Curtis and the firm’s first global strategist. His father, Peter J. Eichler, Sr., guided Bateman Eichler to become one of the largest and most profitable regional securities firms in the country. Using his extensive background in the securities industry, Mr. Eichler developed his expertise in direct industry research and in the analysis of aberrational insider trading activity while at Bear Stearns & Co.

In 1997, Mr. Eichler founded Aletheia with a crystallized philosophy dedicated to relentlessly seeking out the truth and an investment process based on the powerful research methods he had already developed. On January 1, 1998, Aletheia launched its first Separately Managed Account (“SMA”) strategy, the Aletheia Growth Composite. In April 2000, the firm launched the Aletheia Value Composite as well as the Aletheia 100 Insider Index. Additionally, the firm started the Aletheia International Growth Composite in the summer of 2002. Over the past decade, the firm’s assets under management and number of clients have grown substantially as a testament to the power and potency of the investment philosophy and process.

The firm manages assets for institutions and high net worth individuals and offers 8 different SMA strategies to its clients. Aletheia also sub-advises the North American Growth Fund in Europe in partnership with Nordea Bank and sub-advises several mutual funds in Canada in partnership with CIBC . Aletheia is headquartered in Santa Monica, CA.
